I like to think my life is simple but it’s not. I’m a middle class person with ideals of fleeing the suburbs and living in a commune, or starting a beagle dog farm in rural America, or studying shaolin kung fu at the Shaolin Monastery in China, but it’s so damn comfortable sometimes.
I was on the path to be an American Baptist minister but left, and now work in the nonprofit world doing youth development. I relate most with other sensitive, understanding, and compassionate people who are often tortured souls seeking daily peace, contentment, and healing. The Anne Lamotts, Barbara Brown Taylors, Henri Nouwens, Maya Angelous, Brennan Mannings of the world. We are reflective companions wandering through the fog of life.
“How satisfying it is to leave a mark on a blank surface. To make a map of my movement, no matter how temporary.”
—Blankets, Craig Thompson–
